Diabetics

What is it with diabetes and feet?

Those with Diabetes can develop problems with the smaller blood vessels which service the feet. If the circulation deteriorates, so can your nerve and muscle structures that rely on that blood supply. This in turn may lead to numbness and muscle wasting in the feet. Also your ability to detect a problem is decreased exposing you to the risk of greater injury, infection or ulcerations. Regular routine neurologic, vascular and gait examinations are very important to maintaining the foot health for our growing diabetic population. At City Podiatry we know that those with diabetes require special care of their feet. We are able to give your feet and legs a neurological and vascular assessment with up to date diagnostic modalities including a vascular doppler. These assessments can pick up changes before they become a problem.
